Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (İSG) used the Passenger Boarding Bridge, which works with the Remote Control System, in a real flight operation, breaking new ground in the world aviation industry.

Adding an important ring to its smart technology investments in order to facilitate the operation and passenger experience, OHS has provided the first fully remotely controlled passenger boarding bridge to the aviation industry by providing a test environment with its field experience for the development of this innovative technology.

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (İSG), one of the leading airports in Europe, broke new ground in the world aviation industry by using the Passenger Boarding Bridge, which works entirely with the Remote Control System, in a real flight operation.

Opening its doors to innovative technologies with its innovative vision, ISG provided a laboratory environment for the world's first remotely controlled passenger boarding bridge (RCS), by conveying its knowledge and experience in the field. Continuing its investments to facilitate the operation and passenger experience, ISG commissioned this bridge, which it enabled to be jointly developed with innovation, on the 301 Passenger Boarding Line, and on October 22, 2021, the first passenger aircraft approached the bridge operating with this system. Thus, OHS became the first airport in the world to use this new technology in real operation and in a commercial flight.

Aiming to improve the maneuvering times of aircraft as well as providing efficiency, continuity and safety in its operations, OHS collaborated with TK Elevator company, which provides services with more than 5 passenger boarding bridges worldwide, to implement this smart technology.

Stating that OHS has reached a leading position in this field by bringing the most advanced technologies to the aviation industry, ISG CEO Berk Albayrak said, “We continue to develop innovative solutions to facilitate flight and passenger experiences. At the beginning of 2021, we cooperated with TK Elevator company and the project phase of the Remote Control System started. With joint innovation, we developed the RCS solution that brings together Sabiha Gökçen's experience in the field and technology, hardware and software. Thanks to the Remote Control System, the boarding bridge is commanded from the control room instead of the conventional operating system. We aim to provide maximum efficiency, comfort and safety in our operations with this system, which allows operators to save time spent crossing from one bridge to another. With the Remote Control System, we not only made our operations uninterrupted, but also improved their maneuvering times and capabilities. This system saves our operators time and increases work efficiency. We are happy to have used the remote-controlled boarding bridge at an operational airport for the first time in a flight operation, breaking new ground in the aviation industry in the world. We will continue our work without slowing down to reach the top level of competition in every field with our technology investments.”
