At the Turkish-Hungarian Land Transport Joint Commission (KUKK) Meeting, an agreement was reached on an additional 2021 bilateral and 1000 thousand transit documents for 5, while the transit pass certificate for 2022 was increased to 130 thousand.

According to the information received from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Turkish-Hungarian Land Transport Joint Commission (KUKK) Meeting was held on 8-9 September via video conference.

The Turkish Delegation was chaired by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, General Manager of Transport Services Regulation Murat Baştor, and the Hungarian Delegation was chaired by Kornel Kovacs, Head of the Land and Railway Transport Administration of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology.

At the meeting, an agreement was reached on issuing 2021 bilateral and 1000 thousand transit pass documents to Turkish transporters for 5. Thus, for the first time, an additional bilateral permit was obtained from Hungary. Years later, the number of 3rd country certificates was also increased, and with this meeting, important steps were taken to ensure a sustainable transportation system between the two countries.

Negotiations will continue in 2022.

In the meeting held between both countries in November 2020, the number of transit pass documents was increased from 36 thousand to 110 thousand, and the number of bilateral documents was increased from 3 thousand to 5 thousand in return for Turkish transporters not using their UBAK documents in Hungary. The said practice will continue in 2022, and 130 transit documents will be obtained.

It was stipulated by the protocol that an unlimited number of transit documents would be issued upon the request of the Turkish side. In addition, 500 3rd country certificates will be issued for the transports of Turkish transporters from Hungary to Iraq.

While the number of bilateral documents was maintained, an agreement was also reached to issue additional documents to Turkish carriers in case of an increase in transportation with Hungarian vehicles. The parties will continue negotiations in 2022.

Increase in shipments to European countries

With the KUKK meeting held between the two countries in November 2020, one of the most important problems in transportation to Europe was overcome thanks to the great increase in the number of transit documents. While this decision brought great convenience to international road transports in 2021, it provided a high increase in transports and trade.

With the solution of the transit problem, the increase in international road transports in countries such as Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, Poland reached an average of 40 percent.

With this increase in international transportation, the demand for transit documents has increased. While intensive negotiations with these countries continue, as a result of the work done, the number of additional transition documents has exceeded 70 thousand. 6 thousand additional transit pass documents were obtained from Czechia. Thus, in the last 2021 months of 4, Turkish transporters will have the opportunity to transport to European countries for the first time without transit problems.
