"Earthquake and Disaster Awareness Training" was organized for the children of martyrs and veterans in Istanbul by the Ministry of Family and Social Services, General Directorate of Martyrs' Relatives and Veterans, in cooperation with the Kandilli Observatory Earthquake Research Institute.
Education programs in the fields of science, art and culture are planned by the General Directorate of Martyrs' Relatives and Veterans in order to prepare the children of martyrs and veterans in a healthy way for the future. In this context, Earthquake and Disaster Awareness Training was held at Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory Earthquake Research Institute for the children of martyrs and veterans living in Istanbul.
In the Earthquake and Disaster Awareness Education program, which was organized based on the fact that “earthquake is the reality of Turkey”, the children were asked “Definition of Disaster, Basic Information and Concepts in Combating Disasters, Importance of Emergency Sets, Precautions to be Taken Before an Earthquake, Earthquake Hazards and Risks? Information was given on the topics titled “Statistics from Turkey and the World in the First 72 Hours of the Earthquake”.
Children had the opportunity to practice what they learned by experiencing the earthquake with simulation at Earthquakepark, which is the Earthquake Laboratory of the Kandilli Observatory Earthquake Research Institute.
