Tekirdağ Governor Aziz Yıldırım, regarding the train accident in which 6 people died and 7 people were injured in Ergene district, said, "When this accident is examined, we see that it is only due to driver error." said.

Yıldırım told reporters after visiting the injured people in Çorlu State Hospital and private hospitals, “When this accident is examined, we see that it is only due to driver error. Because there is a level crossing there, it is an important entry point.”

'Looks like a complete driver error'

Yıldırım continued as follows: “It is not possible for us to close an area and a road passing through our Organized Industrial Zone. It is a region where more than 70 thousand people work every day, at least 25 thousand service vehicles enter and leave from there every day. It is not possible for him to close this place. Both the railways and our other institutions, all measures have been taken. There are mutual barriers there, as you have already seen in the videos. There is the lighting system, there is the sound system and it all works. All the vehicles are stopped, there is a motorcycle there. However, this driver acted hastily, acted impatiently and bypassed the closed barrier and got in front of the incoming freight train. It is not possible to accept this. Sounds like a complete driver error. The prosecutor's office, the courthouse and our gendarmerie are examining them and they will give the necessary verdict."

'No structural faults'

Yıldırım stated that investigations continue at the site of the accident and said, “We are making a re-evaluation. As a result of these evaluations, we checked whether there are any structural errors, as far as we can see, there are no structural errors. It is due to driver error. I hope our drivers will pay attention and they will not cause such accidents," he said.

In the Ergene district of Tekirdağ, this morning, 6 people died and 7 people were injured as a result of the collision of the freight train with the service minibus carrying the workers.
