Istanbul gets new metrobus vehicles. IETT General Directorate is buying 160 new buses to renew its metrobus fleet. The 5-meter 21 and 100-meter 25 buses, which were awarded an open tender on August 60, will be used on the metrobus line as of the first months of 2022.

The average age of 670 vehicles working on the Metrobus line of the General Directorate of IETT, one of the subsidiaries of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), increased to 10.

With the tender held on August 5, 2021 and broadcast live, the offer of Otokar company for 21 buses with a length of 100 meters and the offers of Akia company for 25 buses with a length of 60 meters were approved.

CAPACITY WILL INCREASE WITH NEW BUS

The 21-meter-long Otokar buses to be purchased will have a capacity of 200 passengers. The vehicles currently used are 18,5 meters and can carry 185 passengers.

25 Akia buses with a length of 60 meters will have a capacity of 280 passengers. Currently used buses are 26 meters but have a capacity of 225 passengers.

The deliveries of the buses, 15 percent of which are paid in advance and the rest with a maturity of 72 months, will be made from the first months of 2022.
