Chinese scientists produced starch using carbon dioxide, hydrogen and electricity. Experts emphasized that if the technique is used on an industrial scale, it will revolutionize the production of starch, which is a critical food and industrial substance.

He stated that this step, which will enable carbon dioxide, a common industrial waste and greenhouse gas, to be recycled into a consumable product, will help reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change.

The scientific article on artificial starch production research, completed under the leadership of Tianjin Industrial Biotechnology Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was published in the famous international academic journal "Science".

Experts emphasized that obtaining synthetic starch from carbon dioxide in the future will save 90 percent in land and water resources. Experts from China and other countries noted that this progress made in the scientific environment will have a revolutionary effect on agricultural production and especially food production in the future, and this will be a turning point for the development of the global biological manufacturing industry.
