Izmir Youth Workshop Started

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer, attended the opening of the 1st Izmir Youth Workshop. Saying that they wanted to consult the ideas of young people to describe the world of the future before the Culture Summit to be held on September 9-11, Soyer said, “This meeting is also a milestone in terms of filtering the decisions taken by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Moreover, this workshop will determine the youth roadmap of our city.”

Before the World Union of Municipalities Culture Summit to be held in İzmir between 9-11 September, the 15st İzmir Youth Workshop, which brings together the young people between the ages of 30-1, started. Stating that the climate crisis will have a significant impact on the world of the future, Soyer emphasized that a culture definition compatible with nature is needed. Saying that they have aligned all of the United Nations (UN) 2030 Sustainable Development Goals with Izmir's 2020-2024 Strategic Plan, Soyer said, "Our Sustainable Urban Transformation Network, which I am proud to chair, is a unique project that aligns the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals with Izmir's local agenda. attempt. Thanks to this network, we have accomplished an innovative work. We support our university graduates, who have not yet found a job, to become sustainability experts. It enables them to participate in training, seminars and workshops on sustainability; We offer internship opportunities in the private sector, non-governmental and public institutions. Our goal is to make 2021 of our young people sustainability experts by the end of 180. In this project, we are simultaneously addressing and solving two seemingly separate problems, such as the employment of our youth and the survival of our planet. Our youth, who were trained as sustainability experts, made a great contribution to the Youth Workshop, which we are opening today.”
