IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, carried out the rail welding process on the Rumelihisarüstü – Aşiyan Funicular Line, which was started in 2017 and stopped in 2018 due to lack of financing. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) started the construction of Rumelihisarüstü – Aşiyan Funicular Line on 21 June 2017. Site delivery for the construction, electromechanical and vehicle purchase project of the 800-meter-long line with a 14,2 percent slope has started, and work has begun. While the works on the line were at the level of 2018 percent at the end of 25, due to the lack of equity budget; vehicle and funicular electromechanical system production was stopped before it started. IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu management restarted production on the line by making equity budget planning in June 2020. As of July 2021, the overall construction progress of the line has been increased to 78 percent, and the vehicle and funicular electromechanical system manufacturing progress to 90 percent, with the rapid work carried out.

“WE SUCCESSFUL THE PROCESS WITH A COMMON MIND”

İmamoğlu participated in the rail boiling event held at the Aşiyan Station of the Rumelihisarüstü – Aşiyan Funicular Line today. In the event, İmamoğlu descended to the station 55 meters below the ground; Sarıyer Mayor Şükrü Genç, İBB Deputy Secretary General Orhan Demir, Rail Systems Department Head Pelin Alpkökin and Metro A.Ş. General Manager Özgür Soy accompanied him. İmamoğlu, who performed the rail welding process under the supervision of the officials by wearing special equipment, then made evaluations inside the tunnel. Emphasizing that the project process was restarted with a common mind, İmamoğlu announced that even the vehicles to work are being purchased. Expressing that they sought the opinions of the citizens, from the color to the design, during the train purchase process, İmamoğlu shared the information that the vehicles to be purchased from Switzerland would arrive at the end of August. İmamoğlu said, “Towards the end of this year, we will get things together and bring this place to the service of our citizens.”

GOOD NEWS TO BOĞAZİÇİ STUDENTS AND ACADEMIC MEMBERS

Stating that the line has a connection with the M6 ​​metro line, İmamoğlu said, “There is Boğaziçi University here. There have been some demoralizing processes at Boğaziçi University for both students and lecturers, but I hope they will enjoy the preparation of a job that raises their morale. We live it too. When they are a little bored, they will be able to easily descend to the Bosphorus from here, take a breath when they descend into the Bosphorus, and at the same time continue their sea voyage from Aşiyan with our city lines. This will be a good advantage. In particular, we will implement the operation of a Maritime Lines supported by Anadolu Hisarı, Küçüksu or Kandilli piers here.”

Emphasizing that they attach great importance to the funicular works on the Bosphorus line, İmamoğlu said, “Besides this project, we are working on a funicular project at 4 points. We wish to give these good news to the people of Istanbul as soon as possible. We have reached the final stages in one of them. There is a 2,6-kilometer line connecting ITU's two campuses to İstinye. A tight funicular line. It will be a line with a middle station, which is rare in the world. In this respect, we are carrying out a very special work.”
