Toyota Driver Rovanpera Breaks Record and Wins Rally Estonia

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team has scored another important victory at Rally Estonia. Toyota driver Kalle Rovanperä finished first in the race, becoming the youngest driver to win a rally in the FIA ​​World Rally Championship

With the Estonia victory, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has won five races in a row, making it the longest WRC winning streak in Toyota's rally history.

Kalle Rovanperä, on the other hand, with her victory at the age of 20 and 290 days, surpassed the 2008 record set by Jari-Matti Latvala, who is now team captain at Toyota.

Providing outstanding performances all weekend, Rovanperä led 24 of the 22 stages. Rovanperä won six of the eight stages on Friday, fighting closely with its closest rival, and managed to make up for it with impressive stage times on Saturday. Leading the rally in a controlled manner on Sunday, Rovanperä finished the race 59.9 seconds ahead of his closest rival.

All three vehicles of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing reached the finish in the top five. The duo of Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia placed fourth, while the duo of Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin placed fifth.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has won six of the seven races this season. Following these results, Ogier and Evans continued to be in the top two places in the Drivers' Championship, while Rovanperä moved up to the fourth place. The Toyota team maintained its 59-point lead advantage in the Constructors' Championship.

After the race, team captain Jari-Matti Latvala praised Rovanperä's performance: “Today was incredible. Every win is special, but for me, Rovanperä's first win means a lot. I am very happy to see him take the record from me as the youngest WRC race winner. "It's an incredible business payoff and allowed us to get our fifth win in a row."

Rovanperä, who took the first win, said, “We were aiming to win and I thank the team for that. The feeling in the Yaris WRC was very good and the team did a great job. There was a surprisingly good feeling today. "We had a good pace without feeling too much pressure and with a normal ride."

The next race in the championship will be Belgium's first WRC race, the Ypres Rally. The 13-15 August rally was first held in 1965 and is known for its challenging asphalt roads. At the same time, the last day will be completed with a stage that includes a section at the famous Spa-Francorchamps racetrack.
