President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan viewed Rize-Artvin Airport, which is under construction, from the air.

President Erdoğan received information from the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu, about the airport under construction in Pazar district, after his inspections in Rize, where floods and landslides occurred due to heavy rain.

To be opened at the end of the year

Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, said in a statement in February, “Rize-Artvin Airport exhibits one of the few engineering examples in the world over the Black Sea. We will put our airport, built on 2,8 million square meters of sea fill, into service at the end of the year, with a capacity of 3 million passengers. Rize-Artvin Airport, whose works have been completed at a rate of 70 percent, will carry the developing tourism need of the Black Sea to the next level with its strong infrastructure. Strong infrastructure, engineering in harmony with nature”.

The foundation was laid in April 2017

The foundation of the airport, which will serve the Eastern Black Sea region between the provinces of Rize and Artvin, was laid by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on April 3, 2017.

In the Rize-Artvin Airport project, the infrastructure and superstructure construction, including the terminal building, runway and aprons, continues rapidly. Efforts are continuing intensively for the airport to be put into service within the planned time.

It will have a capacity of 3 million passengers.

Rize-Artvin Airport will be 34 kilometers from Rize, 54 kilometers from Hopa and 125 kilometers from Artvin. There will be a 31-meter-wide apron and a total indoor area of ​​350 thousand 448 square meters.
