Halkalı-Construction ongoing within the scope of Kapikule Railway Project Çerkezköy-Construction continues on the Kapikule line. Construction started in June 2019 Çerkezköy- 44 percent physical progress has been achieved on the Kapikule railway line. Upon completion of the project Halkalı- Travel time between Kapikule for freight trains will decrease from 8 hours to 3,5 hours, and for passenger trains from 3,5 hours to 1 hour and 35 minutes.

Project The line to be built at 200 kilometers per hour with signal and electrification will be 153 kilometers long. Within the scope of the project, the construction works of 53 underpasses, 59 overpasses, 16 railway bridges, 2 tunnels, 194 culverts and 3 viaducts continue

With the Project with a total length of 229 kilometers, Edirne, Kırklareli and Tekirdağ provinces are connected to the high-speed train network, HalkalıAn important part of the Iron Silk Road, which stretches from London to Beijing with the Kapikule railway line, will be completed. When the line is completed, it will connect Turkey and Trans-Europe networks in high quality.

53 underpasses, 59 overpasses, 16 railway bridges, 2 tunnels, 194 culverts and 3 viaducts will be built in the project, which also includes art structures that are difficult to construct. It will be built with double lines, suitable for 200 kilometers, with signals and electrification, and the total investment value will reach 10.5 billion liras, and even freight and passenger trains can operate.

The project was designed by taking into account all environmental measures such as preserving and reusing organic soil along the line route, making transitions for wildlife and manufacturing sound curtains.

Halkalı- When the Kapikule Railway Project is completed, the travel time for freight trains will decrease from 8 hours to 3,5 hours, and for passenger trains from 4 hours to 1 hour and 20 minutes.
