During the operations carried out at Istanbul Airport by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams, 4 couriers who wanted to bring 9 kilos of drugs hidden in children's books and 5 kilos of drugs hidden in a backpack and luggage floor were caught.

As a result of the analyzes carried out within the scope of the anti-drug smuggling activities carried out by the Istanbul Airport Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate, three passengers arriving at the airport on the same date were considered risky.

The planes carrying three passengers from different countries were tracked via the air tracking system. After the planes landed at the airport, both suspicious passengers and their luggage were taken under surveillance.

The first passenger coming from Colombia to Turkey was stopped by Customs Enforcement teams and the passenger's backpack was scanned with an x-ray device. After the suspicious concentration was found, it was observed that the narcotic detector dog also reacted to the children's books in the bag.

Thereupon, it was found that there were drugs in the form of plates hidden under the covers of the books that were opened and searched with a special method. In the analysis, it was understood that the narcotic substance in the plates was cocaine. As a result of the operation, a total of 4 kilos of cocaine was seized in the children's books carried by the drug courier.

3 kilos of drugs hidden in backpacks were seized

During the checks on the luggage and accompanying bags of another suspicious passenger who came to Turkey from Ethiopia, the arm bags in the backpack attracted the attention of the Customs Enforcement teams. It was determined that there were foreign substances under the lining of the bags, which were checked with an X-ray scanning device and a narcotic detector dog. About 3 kilograms of cocaine was seized in packages removed from their locations.

Another suspicious passenger coming to Turkey from Spain was stopped after passport control. The backpack accompanying the courier was searched by the personnel of the Istanbul Airport Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate. Packages hidden under the lining of the backpack were detected by the x-ray device and the narcotic detector dog. Three kilos of cannabis-type drugs were seized in the packages.

2 couriers on the same plane caught

On the other hand, in the last drug operation, which was carried out a few days after the seizures in question, two couriers traveling on the same plane were seen as risky as a result of the analysis of the Customs Enforcement teams and were taken into custody. After the couriers' luggage was unloaded from the plane, the detector was searched by a dog. As a result of x-ray scanning of the area where the dog reacted, suspicious density was found in the bottom of the luggage. A total of 1 kilo and 300 grams of cannabis-type drugs were seized in the secret compartments specially created on the floors of the opened luggage. During the searches made in the house of the person to whom the drug will be delivered, 1 kilo, 700 grams of cannabis and 5 drug pills were caught.
