TCDD has achieved an international success in the works it carries out to ensure high-level safety in railways. TCDD attaches importance to signaling studies in order to make safer and faster transportation of trains on railways, and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM has achieved an important success. The signaling system developed by Turkish engineers has been certified at SIL4 level, enabling our country to have a say in this regard in the international arena.

As a result of TCDD's efforts to end foreign dependency, the National Signal Interlocking system and traffic control center end dependency on abroad. Work has begun to expand the National Signal System on railway lines.

The work to be done to certify that the railway signaling systems, which require a high level of safety, are valid and competent at both domestic and international levels, were included in the expansion projects. Thus, Domestic Signal System; With the successful completion of the International Safety Audit for Railway Interlocking Systems, it has been certified at the SIL4 level, which is the highest level of safety that can be achieved on railways. The system developed by Turkish engineers ended the foreign dependency and started to be demanded by many countries.

EXPORT DEPENDENCY IS ENDING TECHNOLOGICAL EXPORT IS STARTING

Within the scope of the studies initiated by TCDD in 2005, with the support of TÜBİTAK Public Research Support Group (KAMAG), the National Signal Project was launched in 2009 as a pilot project at the Mithatpaşa station, together with TCDD and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Information Technologies Institute (BTE).

The National Signal System is currently being put into use in the line sections of Ortaklar - Denizli, Malatya-Elazığ, Afyon-Karakuyu, Isparta-Burdur-Denizli, Kayaş-Yerköy in cooperation with TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and TCDD. The system's Torbalı - Ödemiş and Halkalı - Çerkezköy Studies will be started to put it into operation in line sections.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu, said, “Our priority is localness and nationality in all of our investments. This is our goal both in space technology and in our railway infrastructure works. We are making significant progress within the scope of the projects we have created. This is the goal we set for all units of our ministry. "We will start technological exports by ending our foreign dependency."

Stating that the system will be used in all railways, TCDD General Manager Ali İhsan Uygun said, “Development studies of the National Signal System at the ETCS Level 1 level, which is also used in high-speed train lines, are ongoing, and the laboratory phase has been completed. In this way, it will be possible to use our systems on all our railways, including high-speed train lines. Certification of the National Signal System at SIL4 level paves the way for it to be a Turkish brand and to export abroad ”.
