Cycling enthusiasts come together at the Istanbul Mountain Bike Night Race. Applications for the race, where Florya Atatürk Forest will host the competition of athletes aged 17 and over, ends tomorrow night.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), which started the sports organizations in 2021 with the N Kolay Istanbul Half Marathon, which was held last week and hosted the world record, continues to organize new sports organizations that will bring action to the city. Cycling enthusiasts come together at the event to be held on Saturday, April 10th.

Istanbul Mountain Bike Night Race is organized to make mountain bike races traditional and to increase the number of athletes in this field. The registrations of the race, which is among the sports organizations of the IMM Youth and Sports Directorate for the year 2021 and organized by SPOR ISTANBUL, continue until 8:23 on the night of April 59 at event.spor.istanbul.
The event to be held in Florya Atatürk Forest will be held with a limited quota of 250 people. The race will be held in the categories of young women, elite women, master women, master 30 men, master 40 men and 50+ men, junior men and elite men.
PROFESSIONAL AND AMATEUR BICYCLES WILL PARTICIPATE
The race, which is organized with the slogan "Darkness Can't Stop You, Ride Into the Night" and will be held at medium difficulty level, will be open to the participation of professional and amateur cycling athletes. Before the race, the athletes, who will be given a two-hour period to familiarize and warm up the track, will cycle on the 3,5-kilometer track in tours varying between 3 and 8 according to their categories. Medals will be given to all athletes at the end of the race. The winning athletes will receive the prize money and the cup.
ATHLETES FROM OUTSIDE THE CITY CAN ALSO COMPETE
Participation with other types of bicycles will not be accepted in the race where it is mandatory to use a mountain bike (MTB) with at least 26 inches of rim. However, it will be mandatory for all competitors to wear helmets and have front and back lights while racing or training. Those with incomplete equipment will not be able to compete. It will be sufficient for the athletes who will participate in the race from outside of the city to get 'consent' from the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports of the province they are in, so that they do not have problems in transportation.
EVENT WILL BE ORGANIZED WITH OUTBREAK MEASURES
Spectators and guests will not be accepted to the race, which will be held under Covid-19 measures. Food consumption will not be made. Comprehensive disinfection and cleaning work will be carried out before, during and after the race in the activity area where social distance rules will be applied. Before the race, where everyone's temperature will be measured, alcohol-based hand gel and hygiene products will be available in various parts of the area.
Athletes registered to the organization will be able to purchase their racing kits (bike number, clip and t-shirt) at SPOR ISTANBUL General Directorate on Friday, April 9, between 10.00 - 17.00. The rules and all information about the race can be accessed at spor.istanbul.
