Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which has implemented different applications to further accelerate the traffic flow at Acemler Junction, which is one of the most important key points of Bursa traffic, started to work on the project that will connect Hayran Avenue and Oulu Street with a tube crossing.
In order to eliminate the transportation problem in Bursa, the Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its works such as road widening and new roads, promoting public transportation, rail system signaling optimization, has started a new project that will especially breathe Acemler, one of the nodes of urban traffic. In Acemler, where the daily average density is around 180 thousand vehicles in Istanbul, where there is 15-10 percent more density than the 12 July Martyrs Bridge, the Metropolitan Municipality previously added two lanes from the Izmir Road to the Ring Road and The connecting rod was also removed from 1 lane to 2 lanes.
Tube crossing work
The Metropolitan Municipality, aiming to distribute the loads of the D-200 highway to different regions in order to reduce the density in the Acemler Junction, started the tube crossing project in order to enable the vehicles coming from Hayran Street and D-200 highway to use the intersection without creating density. With the work that started in the intersection loop in front of the Novice Police Department building, the vehicles coming from Hayran Street will be connected to Oulu Street with the tube passage to be built. Vehicles will be able to use the junction bridge by directing the connection roads to Zübeyde Hanım Street. The underpass length of the project, which is 200 meters, will be 45 meters long. The underpass, which will have 7 percent up and down training, was designed to allow two vehicles to pass side by side. On Hayran Street, which is projected as 30 meters wide in the implementation plans, the road was designed as 2 round-trips and bicycle paths on both sides of the road. While the project aims to distribute the density of Ali Osman Sönmez Hospital and Stadium, which is under construction, it is expected that a permanent solution will be brought to traffic circulation with the completion of the arrangement, which is a part of the holistic planning prepared for the region. In addition, the vehicles coming from the D-2 highway will be able to go to Çekirge direction via Zübeyde Hanım Street, similar to the current practice.
Parking in front of the hospital
The Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its feverish work in the region in order to eliminate the traffic density in Acemler, on the other hand, provides parking for buses and private vehicles in the area opposite Ali Osman Sönmez Hospital. The city bus and car parking area works on an area of approximately 15 thousand 450 square meters, opposite Ali Osman Sönmez Hospital and on the Hayran Caddesi road, continue rapidly. There will be 15 buses and 1 taxi platform and an open car park for 272 vehicles in the area. The open car park will be used as a regional car park and will meet the parking needs of patient relatives after the opening of Ali Osman Sönmez Hospital. The bus area next to the existing Batı Garajı and Acemler station will be moved to the new location.
Investments do not slow down
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that despite the pandemic process in which the whole world was struggling economically, they did not make any concessions especially on transportation investments. Stating that they attach great importance to transportation investments in the last 3 years by saying 'Road is civilization', Mayor Aktaş said, “There is a feverish work in the region in order to eliminate the traffic congestion among the recruits. The extension works and parking lot work related to Hayran Caddesi are continuing. Now, we started our tube crossing work that will connect Hayran Avenue and Oulu Street. I believe that when these regulations are completed, the density in the region will decrease significantly ”.
