The area where anchovy hunting is free has been expanded

The ban on commercial anchovy fishing, which was partially halted twice previously by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture, was finally extended until 7 February 2021.

As a result of the new evaluations, the area in the east of Istanbul and Kocaeli, which is closed to anchovy hunting, was opened for hunting without waiting until February 7, 2021.

As a result of the observations and inspections carried out by our General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture and the monitoring studies carried out by research institutions, restrictions were imposed on anchovy fishing between 28 January and 7 February 2021 in the whole of the Bosphorus and in the area from the east of Kumköy Aslan Point of Sarıyer District of Istanbul province to the Georgian border. .

However, in the new evaluations made within these restriction periods; In our territorial waters within the boundaries of Istanbul and Kocaeli provinces, it has been determined that the height of the anchovy fished is within the limits of fishing limits and their meat yield is normal, while the height of the anchovies in the hunting activities in other provinces is below the fishing limit and the meat yield is still low.

As a result of these determinations; The area in the east of Istanbul and within the borders of Kocaeli was opened for anchovy hunting without waiting for 7 February 2021.

Our Ministry will carry out the necessary inspections in our seas, at the points where the fish are taken to land, at wholesale and retail sales points, as always, and the fishing and sale of fish below the legal size limit will not be allowed.
