Nine works that made it to the finals in the Social Gender Equality International Cartoon Competition organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality have been announced. The final results of the competition, in which 62 illustrators from 549 countries participated with 672 works, will be announced on 15 February.

Having the pride of being the first city to organize a Gender Equality themed cartoon contest after the United Nations, İzmir became a pioneer with the interest shown and high participation in the competition.

In the Gender Equality International Cartoon Competition, the winner will be awarded 15 thousand liras, the second 10 thousand, and the third 5 thousand liras. Within the scope of the competition, three honorable mentions of 2 thousand lira will be distributed. It is aimed to exhibit the winning and award-winning works at prominent points in the city and to raise awareness on gender equality.

The deadline for objections is February 14

Nine selected works will be shared on social media accounts of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and various competition sites between 08-14 February 2021. Those who come across similar, copied or previously awarded cartoons and fraudulent cartoons among the finals will be able to notify the competition committee. It is also possible to send notifications to ibbcartoon@gmail.com. Objections to the finalist works will be received until 14:16.00 on Sunday, February XNUMXth.

The Selection Committee, consisting of Cemalettin Güzeloğlu, Canol Kocagöz, Eray Özbek, Menekşe Çam, Görkem Şengüler and Hilal Bayındır, convened on February 5th at the Historical Elevator and determined the finalist works after a long evaluation process.

The goal is to prevent discrimination

Organizing the International Cartoon Competition with the theme of Gender Equality in order to emphasize the prevention of all kinds of discrimination against women and girls was unanimously accepted by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Council on 18 November 2020.
