Turkey's province of Canakkale Gelibolu district being built between 1915 and Lapseki bridge, the Dardanelles and the first suspension bridge will be the fifth of the Marmara Region.

The construction of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which is rapidly continuing to create integrity in the transportation network in the Marmara Region, will serve an important function in the transition from one continent to another as a part of the Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Balıkesir Motorway. The bridge, which will take the title of the longest suspension bridge in the world with its 2.023 meters of middle span length, is aimed to be put into service on 18 March 2022. The bridge is expected to reduce the ferry queues, especially during summer and public holidays, by connecting to the 101-kilometer Malkara-Çanakkale Highway.

After the construction of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which will connect the European and Asian sides of the Dardanelles Strait, and the completion of the "catwalk", engineers, technicians and workers continue their work on the European and Asian sides of this road, which is a working platform that connects the two sides.

The work of the teams in charge of the construction of the bridge, which will receive the title of "the world's largest middle span suspension bridge" when it is put into service, and has a unique architecture with its color, figure and other features, has accelerated with the catwalk.

The motorway with the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge; It will include 4 viaducts, 12 intersections, 55 bridges and overpasses, 40 underpasses, 238 culverts of various sizes, 4 highway service facilities, 2 maintenance operation centers and 7 toll collection stations.

When the entire Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Highway Project is connected to the Gebze-İzmir Highway, the rings of the highway chain surrounding the Marmara Region will join. Dardanelles in the construction of the bridge at the time the borders of Turkey within Europe to Asia, in other words, the Thrace to the south, as the most important link in the chain that connects the Aegean and Mediterranean regions will be included in this network.

With the completion of the projects, it is aimed to reduce the ferry queues, especially during the summer months and public holidays, by creating alternative routes for transportation from Istanbul and Thrace provinces to the Marmara and Aegean regions.

In addition, it is envisaged to increase the cultural interaction as well as commercial relations with neighboring countries by reducing vehicle operating costs and travel times, reducing the time cost of goods carrying vehicles in import and export.

The middle span of the bridge, where rubber-wheeled vehicles can pass, will be 2.023 m, and the total length will be 3.563 m. With this medium span length, the bridge will cross the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge in Japan by 32 meters, making it the longest suspension bridge in the world. Its middle span was determined as 100 meters, referring to the 2.023th anniversary of the republic. The tower height of the bridge, which has two steel towers, is 318 meters. The tower height, on the other hand, was formed from the numbers 18 and 1915, meaning the eighteenth day of the third month, referring to the victory of the Ottoman army in the Battle of Çanakkale on March 3, 18.
