The harbor planned to be built in Kıyıkışlacık Village, the settlement of the ancient city of Iasos in the Milas district of Muğla, revolted the villagers and nature lovers. Halis Şahin, Head of Kıyıkışlacık Village, said, “They are trying to build a harbor for the village that has no infrastructure. Two cargo ports in the bay kill the fisheries in the region. Makes life hell. We do not want a second port in our village. At least 40-50 people from the village will file a lawsuit. There are also many people who will be suing from the sites. "We are against this port, which harms our nature, local tourism and fishing," he said.

According to the news of Yaşar Anter from SÖZCÜ; “Ayıldız Mining and Loading Inc. to Kıyıkışlacık Village, where the Ancient Iasos City is located in the Milas district of Muğla. EIA NOT NECESSARY DECISION SUSPENDED

“EIA is not required” decision of Muğla Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization was suspended on 04.01.2021. Halis Şahin, the head of the Kıyıkışlacık Village, said that they were preparing to file a lawsuit against the decision of the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization at the Muğla Administrative Court within a 30-day objection period.

Stating that they will file a lawsuit by taking power of attorney from approximately 50 people, Şahin said, “Our village is at the corner of the bay. They are trying to build a harbor for our village, which has no infrastructure. Marine pollution in the Gulf of Güllük has been very advanced in recent years. If the new port is opened, the bay will be filled with huge ships of 1350 DWT (gross ton) / 135.000 tons. With their bilge and ballast waste, the Gulf Sea, which is already in the orange color, that is, in the very dirty category on the maps of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, will soon enter the red category, like the Izmir Aliaga sea. So sea death will occur; neither fish will remain nor alive! This project will kill wildlife and regional tourism. Go into the sea and stop swimming, people who will be unable to walk on the beach from the smell and dirt. Two cargo ports in the bay kill the fisheries in the region. Makes life hell. The calm life here will come to an end due to the noise and pollution created by the ships in the bay. Tourism in the region will suffer. Fishermen who make a living from fish will not be able to net in the bay. The marine ecosystem will be disrupted due to the deepening of the sea bottom. We do not want a second port in our village. At least 40-50 people from the village will file a lawsuit. There are also many people who will be suing from the sites. "We are against this port, which harms our nature, local tourism and fishing."

THE PROJECT WILL UNDERSTAND ECOLOGICAL BALANCES AND SOCIAL LIFE

Mehmet Çelik, who lives in Kıyıkışlacık Village, stated that "In the planned project, in the EIA introduction file, the Mine and Cargo Shipping Port will have the capacity to berth 260-25 ships, 6 meters long, 8 meters wide in the first place," said the residents of Kıyıkışlacık, they passed the information:

“After the project is approved, it is planned to be increased to 500 meters like the Güllük Port. In order to enable ships with unsuitable draft to dock easily, dredging activities in the amount of 14.500 cubic meters are planned in the pier and maneuver area in a sea area of 44.482,66 square meters. At the end of these dredging studies, it is said that the depth is planned to be reduced to -7 meters. Ships will wait at a close enough distance to their living spaces to disturb their peace and quiet. We will be exposed to the traffic of dump trucks on land and giant cargo ships at sea. The project is in the region that will completely disrupt ecological balances. Due to the noise and pollution they will create, this project will directly harm human health, fishing, tourism, the environment, nature, as well as cultural assets as it is an archaeological site. The people of the village, struggling with the lack of infrastructure, are completely against the approval and license of this project. Both those who live here and the people of the Gulf. "This issue has become a matter of our country, not only for the gulf, but for our country, as it will upset the ecological balances."

On behalf of the residents of Kıyıkışlacık, Lawyer, who said “EIA is Not Required” for the Second Port, is preparing to sue the Muğla Administrative Court for the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization. Bora Sarıca said, “Such EIA reports are subject to urgent judgment. The EIA not required for the second port decision was suspended on January 4, 2021. We have to file a lawsuit within 30 days. "I will get power of attorney next week and we will have our case before this month leaves."
