The winning projects in the 'Mars 2050 Living Space Idea Competition' organized in cooperation with the Metropolitan Municipality and Bursa Technical University were presented to the impression of the citizens with the exhibition opened by the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, Alinur Aktaş. Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that the exhibition, organized in professional and student categories, can be visited free of charge at the Tayyare Cultural Center between 23-28 November.

The ceremony organized at the Tayyare Cultural Center due to the opening of the exhibition; Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş and AK Party Osmangazi District Chairman Ufuk Cömez and Bursa Technical University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Faculty Member Prof.Dr. Beyhan Bayhan also attended.

In his speech at the opening of the exhibition, the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality Alinur Aktaş reminded that the protocol for the Mars 2050 Living Space Idea Competition, which deals with 'space architecture and exoplanet urbanism', was signed between the Metropolitan Municipality and Bursa Technical University in 2019. Stating that the competition with a total of 30 thousand TL prize money was completed with intense participation, Mayor Aktaş said, “In the competition that includes difficult conditions; "It is aimed to give products to newly developed fields of activity on the research, design and construction of the environment, resource and habitat possibility in Mars and other celestial bodies."

Stating that interesting ideas emerged in the competition held in professional and student categories, Mayor Aktaş said, “Due to the epidemic we experienced, the application was extended until July 1, and the participants were facilitated. Competition in the category Turkey students from anywhere in the 29, joined the professional category and 18 teams. The jury evaluation and communication coordination responsibility was given by Dr. The winning design ideas in the competition undertaken by Ersan Koç were determined and announced on 10 July 2020. We would like to thank those who contributed and made great efforts to the process, especially our jury members, who contributed to the process ”.

Chairman Alinur Aktaş noted that the winner of the professional category was awarded 10 thousand TL, the second was 5 thousand TL, and the third was 3 thousand TL. In addition, Mayor Aktaş stated that 3 honorable mentions of 1000 TL each were presented in this category and that 4 jury incentive awards met with the winners in the professional category. Mayor Aktaş noted that in the student category, 9 equal achievement awards, totaling 6 thousand TL, were given.

Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Alinur Aktaş stated that Keremcan Yılmaz and Erdem Batıbek were the winners in the professional category and said, “Ekin Kılıç and Ceydanur Katmer came second, Merve Çengel and Onur Ertaş came third. In the professional category, Özlem Demirkan, Huriye Önal and Uçman Tan's work won first mention; Mertcan Tonoz, Büşra Kavcar and Mehtap Ortaç's work won the second honorable mention; The work of İrem Ercan and Talha Member was also deemed worthy of the third honorable mention. Again in this category, the works of Selin Sevim and Ayşe Büşra Önş, Ecenur Sezgin and Berfin Ekinci were also awarded with incentives ”.

Mayor Aktaş noted that in the student category, the ideas that deserved to receive 6 co-achievement awards and 2 incentive awards were determined. Chairman Aktaş said, “According to this; Mine Dilmaç, Yaren Müge Arı, Berca Kavani, Envercan Vural, H. İbrahim Yılmaz, H. İbrahim Han, Özgür Yeşilçimen, Hüseyin Emir Aydemir, Şevval Çoksaygılı, Göksu Eda Yılmaz, İsrafil Taşlıbeyaz and Yiğit Dağlier, Arman Assylbek, Muhammed Eker and Ömer Faruk Korkmaz's projects were deemed worthy of the co-achievement award. In this category, the project of Muhammet Emin Çelik and Yaşar Şekeroğlu and the project of Osman Çaputçu and Ecem Doğan were also entitled to receive an incentive award ”.

Chairman Aktaş stated that the awards of the owners of the works who were entitled to receive awards in the contest were deposited directly into their bank accounts and the certificates were sent to the addresses since the ceremony could not be held within the scope of coronavirus measures.

Bursa Technical University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Faculty Member Prof.Dr. Beyhan Bayhan thanked the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality Alinur Aktaş for his efforts in bringing the project to life. Prof. dr. Beyhan Bayhan stated that they are willing to do different similar works with the Metropolitan Municipality.

After the opening, Mayor Aktaş visited the exhibition areas with the protocol members and made a phone call with Keremcan Kırılmaz, the winner of the professional category 'participating in the competition from İzmir'.
