With the works of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, historical buildings in the city come to life again. When the ongoing studies are completed, it will contribute to the cultural and historical texture of Balıkesir.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which will restore the historical values ​​of Balıkesir and bring it to the city; It started restoration works in historical buildings in Marmara, Edremit, Karesi and Havran districts and in historical fountains in the city center. Within the scope of the works, the Metropolitan Municipality, historical buildings; With its renovations, repairs and restorations, Terzizade Saadettin Bey Mansion is also restored in partnership with Havran Municipality. In addition, 7 historical fountains, whose projects are prepared by the Metropolitan Municipality; survey, restitution and restoration works are also carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

HISTORICAL BUILDING CITY MUSEUM IN MARMARA

From the Marmara Pantelis family in 1905; The restoration work was initiated by the Metropolitan Municipality to transform the stone building, which was built as a Greek Girls' School with the money collected by Captain Vasilis, Zannis and Dimitris, and served as a Gendarmerie Station for a period and as a Government House for a while. In the city museum, which will contribute to the revitalization of tourism in the district, archaeological and ethnographic artifacts from the region will be exhibited.

HISTORICAL EDREMIT HOUSES WILL COME TO THE DAY

Within the scope of the “Historical Edremit Houses Coming to the Face: Gazi İlyas Street Street Rehabilitation Project”, which is carried out in cooperation with Edremit District Governorship, South Marmara Development Agency, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality and Edremit Municipality, restoration works have started in 35 buildings. With the project where the old houses of Edremit will come to life again, it is aimed to become a new center of attraction with the historical and cultural structure of the region.

A 150-YEAR-OLD EKİNEL HOUSE IS RESTORED

Restoration work has also started in the 150-year-old Ekinel House, which is located in Karesi District of Karesi district and is owned by the Metropolitan Municipality. The building, which reflects the traditional house architecture of the region and is still used as a residence, was built at the end of the Ottoman Period, after the completion of the restoration work, it will be opened for use according to the needs.

ATATÜRK'S MEMORY IS SURVIVED

With the cooperation of the Metropolitan Municipality and Havran Municipality, the work to restore the Terzizade Saadettin Bey Mansion, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed when he came to Havran on April 14, 1934, in Balıkesir, in order to keep Atatürk's memories alive, continues rapidly. When the works are completed, the historical mansion will be put into the service of the Balıkesirs as a museum.

REGISTERED FOUNTAINS COME TO LIFE AGAIN

Following the approval of the Balıkesir Cultural Heritage Preservation Regional Board for the works to be carried out in the registered fountains in the city center, the Historical Cultural Heritage Branch Directorate, which is affiliated to the Metropolitan Municipality's Department of Reconstruction and Urbanization, went to the construction tender for the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums. Of the 7 fountains designed by the Metropolitan Municipality; survey, restitution and restoration works are carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It is aimed to complete the restoration work carried out on the registered fountains, which started in November, by the end of the year.

In this context; Karaoğlan Square Fountain, Aziziye Fountain, Kasaplar Mosque Fountain, Kayabey Mosque Fountain, Fatıpınar Fountain, Keçeçi Hafız Mehmet Efendi Fountain and Sülüklü Fountain; survey, restitution and restoration work will be done.
