İzmir Metropolitan Municipality strengthens the sea leg of public transportation. After the Fethi Sekin Car Ferry, which was put into service in the past months, the Uğur Mumcu Car Ferry also came to Izmir Bay. The name of the ferry, built in Çeliktrans Shipyard in Tuzla, Istanbul, was placed in the popular vote organized by the Metropolitan. The ferry will be put into service in the İZDENİZ fleet before the New Year, after the necessary controls and tests are completed and the certification procedures are completed. The fleet currently includes 15 catamarans, four car ferries and a Bergama ferry. There are also five cruise ships leased through service procurement. With the inclusion of Uğur Mumcu, the number of car ferries will increase to five.
