Istanbul Regional Administrative Court decided to continue the practice in Marmaray, which became transferring with the decision of UKOME and became cheaper. The court overturned the decision of the local court for stay of execution on this matter.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) decided to include Marmaray, which is operated by the General Directorate of State Railways under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, into the Istanbulcard transfer system, with the decision taken on February 6, 2020. Thus, after a public transportation vehicle, citizens with full tickets started to pay 7,75 lira instead of 3,50 lira, and students started to pay 3,50 lira instead of 1,70 lira.
The General Directorate of State Railways took the decision to the court, and the Istanbul 2nd Administrative Court decided to stay the execution of the application on 9 July 2020. The issue was brought to the UKOME agenda by IMM in August, but UKOME members had referred the issue to the sub-commission for discussion. IMM Legal Consultancy also carried the decision for stay of execution to the Regional Administrative Court.
The Istanbul Regional Administrative Court, which announced its decision on September 22, 2020, found the IMM right and overturned the previous decision to stay execution. The court stated that the district municipalities were not invited to the meeting, which was included in the defense of the General Directorate of State Railways; There will be a retrospective unrecoverable grievance in the operation of Marmaray; He did not find the allegations that it was unlawful for the IMM Head of Transportation Department to vote in place of the directorate where he was acting.
With the latest decision, it was deemed appropriate for Marmaray to continue to receive transfers. Thus, after a public transportation vehicle, citizens with full tickets will continue to pay 7,75 lira instead of 3,50 lira, and students will continue to pay 3,50 lira instead of 1,70 lira.
