EBA Statement from the Ministry of National Education! Why Did EBA Crash?

EBA statement from the Ministry of National Education: It was needed to inform the public about the technical problem experienced in accessing the EBA platform and the EBA Live Course on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

The access problem encountered by some users intermittently between 08.30 - 12.00 hours depending on the density of concurrent users was quickly resolved with the improvements made by our technical teams without wasting time.

With the innovations in the live lesson timetable implemented as of September 22, the number of live lessons that a student can teach during the day has been greatly increased. With this application, in addition to TRT EBA TV broadcasts, it is aimed that students will make almost all of their daily curriculum through live lessons, interactively with their teachers. Due to the fact that it is the first day of the application in question, concurrent user density has occurred. The determinations regarding this situation due to simultaneous use were made instantly and improvements were put into effect on the same day. In this context, the "Quick switch" feature, which allows the student to easily access the system up to 30 minutes before the start of the lesson, and directly participate in the live lesson, has been improved.

In addition, EBA, which has reached a very high level of usage traffic with the opening of the new period, is exposed to cyber attacks while attracting attention on a global scale and its service quality may be affected. According to the reports of DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks, it was observed that there were more than one cyber attack during these hours. As a result of the early realization of this situation and immediate interventions, the EBA platform and the EBA Live Course system continued to serve within 2 hours.

EBA Systems are monitored 7/24 with the control center and the necessary interventions for uninterrupted service provision are made instantly. Despite the similar usage intensity on the afternoon of September 22nd and September 23rd, our students, parents and teachers are served without any problem.
