A double line, 200 km speed, signal and electrification will be built, and the total investment cost will reach 10,5 billion lira, and freight and passenger trains will be able to operate.

The project is built environmentally friendly

The project was designed taking into account all environmental measures such as preserving and reusing the organic soil along the line route, crossing for wildlife and manufacturing sound curtains. Environmental awareness is kept at the highest level in the works.

Within the framework of the Environmental Management Plan, noise, vibration, surface water quality and dust are measured before the construction starts and necessary measures are taken and transactions are carried out.

Thanks to the operation of the railway vehicles to be used within the scope of the project with electrical energy, it is aimed to keep the carbon emission value very low. In addition, regular environmental training is given to field personnel.

530 million Euros of the contract value of 275 million Euros for this part of the railway project will be provided from European Union grant funds.

In this respect, the project is also the biggest grant project.

What will change in transportation at the end of the project?

When the project, which offers the comfort of traveling at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour on the railway, is completed, the following advantages will be provided in transportation:

"Halkalı- Travel time between Kapıkule by train will be reduced from 4 hours to 1 hour 20 minutes, and freight transport time will decrease from 6,5 hours to 2 hours and 20 minutes.

With the project, Edirne, Kırklareli and Tekirdağ provinces will be connected to the high-speed train network. HalkalıAn important part of the Iron Silk Road from London to Beijing with the Kapıkule railway line will be completed.

When completed, the line will connect Turkey and the Trans-European network of high quality to each other.

The export opportunities of the industrial products produced in the region will increase, and the logistics costs that will occur during the transportation of the necessary raw materials to the manufacturing industry will decrease.

Currently 1,53 million tons of freight is transported, it is aimed to increase this figure to 9,6 million tons annually and to increase the annual average number of 600 thousand passengers to 3,4 million.

By decreasing the density of land transportation in the region, rail transportation will increase, so accidents and air pollution will decrease. "
