Karaismailoğlu stated that the total revenue of the companies operating in the communication sector in the first quarter of 2020 reached 17,6 billion liras. “In the first quarter of 2019, net sales revenues were about 15,4 billion liras. In other words, sector revenues have increased by 2,2 billion TL compared to the same period of the previous year. ”

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu, Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA), prepared by the "Turkey Year 2020 First Electronic Communications Market Quarterly Market Data Report" for the assessment found. Investments Increase by 66 Percent Compared to the Same Period of the Last Year

Karaismailoğlu said that at the end of the first quarter of 2020, the number of operators operating in the electronic communication sector reached 456 and the number of authorizations given to these operators was 823. Stating that the amount of investment made in the communication sector in the first quarter of 2020 was approximately 3,5 billion liras, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the total investment amount of Türk Telekom and mobile operators was approximately 2,6 billion liras and that 878 million lira investments were made by other operators in the same period. Karaismailoğlu said, “In the first quarter of 2019, the total investment amount of Türk Telekom and mobile network operators was approximately 1,65 billion liras and the investment made by other operators was approximately 461,3 million liras. In other words, the amount of investments made by all operators last year was 2,1 billion liras. In the same period of this year, an increase of over 66 percent was achieved in the investment amount compared to the previous year. These investments of the operators mainly consisted of the expansion of fiber infrastructures, investments in the core network in mobile and fixed services, investments in the radio network in mobile services, disaster and emergency situations and capacity increase investments made due to increased traffic due to pandemics.

Investments in these technologies have important impacts on the whole economy, both with their direct returns and indirect contributions to other sectors, such as productivity. ”

Sector Revenues Increased 2,2 Billion Liras

Karaismailoğlu announced that the total revenue of companies operating in the communication sector in the first quarter of 2020 reached 17,6 billion liras. In this context, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the total net sales revenues of Türk Telekom and mobile network operators amounted to 13,3 billion liras, and the total net sales revenues of other operators in the same period was approximately 4,3 billion liras. “Net sales in the first quarter of 2019 their revenue was about 15,4 billion lira. In other words, sector revenues have increased by 2,2 billion TL compared to the same period of the previous year. In the first quarter of last year, total net sales revenues of Türk Telekom and mobile network operators were approximately 11,7 billion liras. The sum of net sales revenues of other operators in the same period was approximately 3,7 billion liras. ”

“We aim to increase investments”

Karaismailoğlu underlined that the most important point in this field is that companies attach great importance to R&D and renewal investments.
