  • August 12, 1869 Porthole Company Board of Directors withdrew from Rumeli railways business with a surprising decision. This decision was only reported to Babıali on August 16.
  • 12 August 1888 European lines were contacted and the first train from Istanbul to Vienna departed from the famous “Orient Express = Orient Express” Sirkeci station.
  • 12 August 1939 Payas-İskenderun (19 km) line was taken over with the annexation of Hatay.
