The “Bakırköy Cumhuriyet (Freedom) Square Urban Design Competition” organized by IMM in March in order to make public spaces accessible and safe was concluded.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), which organizes events with the theme of "Istanbul Getting Its Public Spaces" in order to make public spaces accessible, free, lively, peaceful and safe, wants to realize the square arrangements by consulting with its stakeholders and listening to the needs of the citizens.
In this context, IMM organized urban design competitions for Taksim, Bakırköy and Golden Horn Coasts. The "Bakırköy Cumhuriyet (Freedom) Square and its Surrounding Urban Design Project Competition", announced on March 9, has been concluded.
The exhibition of the competition, organized by Istanbul Planning Agency and IMM Department of Survey Projects, will be held at Yenikapı Eurasia Show and Art Center between 12-19 August. The colloquium and award ceremony was held online at 14:16.00 on Friday, August XNUMX.
Following the announcement of the results, an innovative, participatory, democratic and transparent method will be applied in the project decision-making process. In this method, deciding on the equivalent awards to be applied; It will be determined as a result of the joint evaluations made by the jury, the users and the local government systematically and under equal conditions. 3 thousand lira for the first 100 designs and 5 thousand lira for the next 30 designs will be awarded. 50 thousand lira will be paid for purchases.
Main, reserve and advisory jury members, rapporteurs and assistants serve in the competition. The Principal Jury Members consisted of Landscape Architect Enise Burcu Derinbogaz, Architect / Urban Planner Gökçer Okumuş, Architect Feride Önal, Architect Kaya Sönmezler, Architect Birge Yıldırım Okta.
