Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues its works to complete the tunnel and viaduct project that will connect between Buca and Izmir Bus Terminal without entering the city traffic. 2 companies submitted bids for the tender held for the completion of 2 viaducts, 1 highway underpasses and 6 overpass construction, which constitute the first phase of the giant project.

The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues its efforts to complete the construction of the viaducts that will connect the bus station with the “longest highway tunnel in Izmir” to be opened between Buca and Bornova. Due to the withdrawal of the firm that carried out the project, the tender was put out again in order to complete the completed constructions as soon as possible. The first tender was held on July 28 within the scope of the huge investment that will ease the traffic in the city and connect the Homeros Boulevard in Buca to İzmir Bus Terminal in Işıkkent without entering the city traffic. Construction of a Connection Road between Buca Onat Street and Intercity Bus Terminal and Ring Road In the scope of the First Stage supply tender, 850 companies submitted bids for the completion of the construction of 2 viaducts, 2 underpasses and 1 overpass. Next is tunnel tender

After the completion of the tender process, the manufacturing works will start in 400 days. Metropolitan will also be put out to tender in December to finish the unfinished tunnel construction quickly. The longest tunnel in İzmir will be built within the second phase of the "Buca-Onat Street and Intercity Bus Terminal and Ring Road Connection Project". The length of the deep double tube tunnel will be 2,5 kilometers, and 2 departures - 2 arrivals will serve as four lanes in total. The tunnel is 7,5 meters high and 10,6 meters wide.

What happened?

Offering the tender for Buca Onat Street and Intercity Bus Terminal and Ring Road Connection Road Viaduct with an offer of 45 million 284 thousand 699 TL, Ezekar Yapı İnş. A.Ş.-Mapek İnş ve Tic. Inc. Business Partnership had won. Within the scope of this large investment, which is critical for city traffic, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality started to construct two viaducts for connection to the bus station, 2 vehicle underpasses at the intersection of Kemalpaşa Avenue and Kamil Tunca Boulevard and 1 vehicle overpass for the highway bus terminal connection. He had completed 68 percent of his work. However, the construction stopped in August 4735 after the contractor company applied for the liquidation of the work based on the provisional fourth article titled “Liquidation and Transfer of Contracts” of Law No. 2019. Likewise, HGG İnşaat Anonim Şirketi won the tunnel tender with a bid of 109 million 900 thousand 827 TL, and after the company applied for the liquidation of the work, the tunnel works, which were completed approximately 250 meters, stopped on the same date.

Bus station without city traffic
