Ministry of Health Marmara University Dr. Asaf Ataseven Hospital was opened to service after the ceremony held with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In his speech, Erdogan pointed out that a new period has been entered in the struggle for democracy and development, and it is clearly seen that political and economic relations will be reshaped after the epidemic process.

President Erdoğan reminded that there has been an increase in the number of cases and deaths in recent days and reminded the mask, distance and cleaning issue. Hopefully we will remember this place with the name of our Asaf Teacher. In addition to the services our Asaf Teacher had done on medical science, he was a complete case man, a foundation person. Like every case man, his life has passed through tough struggle in this country's difficult times. Like every foundation person, his biggest goal has been to contribute to the training of generations who are faithful, equipped, successful, loyal to his country and nation, and who will serve his country. He gave this struggle ”.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister Fahrettin Koca stated that they took another step that will strengthen the power of the health system, the effect of which they feel very pronounced.

We will defeat this epidemic that takes our precious people from us together with the permission of Allah. ”
“We are breaking new ground in healthcare with city hospitals”
“We are getting ready for epidemic, earthquake and disaster situations with a new vision with Emergency Hospitals” Minister Koca said, “We are opening a new era in health by putting city hospitals one by one. The Ministry of Health Marmara University Hospital is a new but special link in the chain of hospitals. With a protocol signed between the University and our Ministry, it adds a new vision to the model of use together, as it is the first sample to be transferred to our Ministry. ”
Koca noted that the hospital, which they expect to meet an important need in the Anatolian side of Istanbul, has a closed area of 181 thousand square meters, built on 113 decares of land.
“Earthquake resistant with 827 seismic isolators”
Explaining that the hospital, which was built as the Medical Faculty Hospital of Marmara University, has a history of 30 years, Koca stated that the inability to complete for long years necessitates a renovation in accordance with the hospital understanding of the day.
Noting that the hospital was strengthened within the scope of İSMEP, it was made earthquake resistant with 827 seismic isolators, and added:
“Without waiting for the renovation to be completed, it was partially opened as part of the Kovid-19 struggle and started to serve as a pandemic hospital. When the hospital is fully operational, it will serve at full capacity with a total of 155 beds and 60 operating rooms, including 304 polyclinics, 535 intensive care units and 28 single-bed rooms. We are happy to offer modern hospitals with strong technology to our citizens. Three things come together in the spirit of such projects; vision, execution, service ethic. The meeting of these three elements is a common feature of the brightest periods of our history. ”
