The Syrian regime has rented the historic district of Hicaz Train Station, which was built in the center of Damascus in the late 19th century during the Ottoman era, for 45 years to an unspecified private company and transformed it into tourist hotels and commercial activities.

Official sources affiliated with the Syrian regime confirmed that it rented a historic train station in the capital Damascus.

In details, the Assad regime and general manager of the Hicaz railway line, Hassanein Muhammed Ali, announced that the 45-year-old building of the Hicaz train station in the center of the capital was rented to a private company for 45 years without disclosing its name.

"The project was awarded to a private company with an annual appropriation of 1.6 billion Syrian pounds, and the investment period is 45 years, after which the entire project will belong to Railways Corporation."

According to the sources, the station will be transformed into a hotel under the name of "Nirvana Complex" with an area of 40 square meters, with a commercial complex, restaurants and multi-purpose halls at a cost of $ 5100 million.

Sources believe that the company investing in the project will be Russian, for this reason researcher leading Ömer Al-Bunna Arabi 21 newspaper in Syrian antiquities: The Syrian regime was a part of the project to sell the old Damascus, the station was a symbol of the city of Damascus and the regime continues to sell these symbols for questionable investments. ”

“Today, the regime sells the memory of Damascus to questionable companies and doesn't care about the memory and history of Damascus's sons.” said.

What is surprising is the Antiquities Directorate's silence in these agreements.

Who owns the property?

According to legal sources, the ownership of the station belongs to the general Islamic Foundation, where the Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II wanted to include all Muslims in the construction of the Hijaz railway, rail and station construction costs were collected from the contributions of Muslims from all life from India to Morocco. .

Munther Muhammad, a financial inspector from the regime, stated that the Syrian law prohibits the sale of funds attached to the Ministry of Foundations, stating that the station was owned by the Syrian “Ministry of Foundations”.

Instead of staying in power, the regime is ready to sell all of Syria, Mohamed said, referring to the almost collapsed economic situation of the Syrian regime:

Hejaz railway connects Damascus to Medina and Sultan II. It was established during the reign of Abdülhamid and started its work in 1900 and continued to work until 1916 until it was destroyed during the First World War and the Great Arab Revolution.

The Hicaz Railway Project, the construction of which started between the Damascus and Der with an official ceremony held on September 1, 1900 and which means the realization of a great dream, and the construction of the project was given to the Germans by the Ottomans.
