Military service and demobilization procedures, which were postponed within the scope of Corona virus measures, are starting again. National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced that the discharge process will begin on May 31st.

Under the chairmanship of the Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, a weekly video conference meeting was held with the participation of Chief of General Staff Gen. Yaşar Güler, Commander of the Land Forces Gen. Umit Dündar, Commander of the Air Forces Commander General Hasan Küçükakyüz and Admiral Adnan Özbal, Commander of the Naval Forces and Deputy Ministers.

Minister Akar, who made evaluations after the instructions of the meeting, where the measures taken in the fight against coronavirus as well as defense and security issues were discussed, stated that important and successful works were carried out on the fight against Kovid-19 under the instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the coordination of the Ministry of Health.

Important measures have been taken regarding this. Our young people who will be discharged have been taken into custody as a precaution since 18 May. We are also in an intense coordination with the Ministry of Health. No cases have been encountered among our young people who have been under surveillance until now. Hopefully, starting from May 31st, we will send our youth away from their units in a healthy way and ensure their discharge. On the other hand, we have taken every precaution to ensure that our youth can join the unions in a healthy way within the scope of the new summons. Within the scope of the measures taken by our provincial and district health directorates and garrison commands, our youth will be enrolled with a PCR test three or four days before.

Minister Akar stated that they are continuing the precautions and studies on this issue with determination and said, “In short, our aim is to send the soldiers from the troops to their homes intact, and to ensure the transfer of our youth from their homes to the troops in a sound manner. Our work on this subject continues. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all Mehmetçik, who sincerely and sincerely implement these measures we have taken in this regard, and to parents who support these decisions and show understanding and patience.
