A Tax Decision In Addition To Import In White Goods

Nadir Küpeli, Chairman of the Board of Eskişehir OSB, stated that they found it positive that the additional customs tax, which will be applied up to 30 percent in various imported products, will help the industry protect its production and competitiveness during this transition period.

With the additional decision to the import regime decision, it was recently announced that some products will be subject to additional customs duties at rates ranging from 30 percent until 2020 September 30, and up to 25 percent after this date. Nadir Küpeli, Chairman of the Board of Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone (EOSB), stated that they found the decision positive in terms of protection of the domestic industry, “According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, additional taxes were imposed on over 400 imported products. Within the scope of this decision made by our state, the application of additional taxes to some imported products such as refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers and ovens is a positive step in terms of supporting the protection and development of our domestic production. ”

To support our industrialists' strengthening in the domestic market

Stating that the decision taken will support the strengthening of the industrialist in the domestic market, Küpeli said, “In this period, 119 thousand products were imported to our country. The amount of imports in 2019 was 390 thousand units. These imported products with additional tax are generally expensive products that appeal to the high income level, so they do not cover the white goods products used by our citizens in general. The decision taken in this context will support the strengthening of our domestic producer and industrialist in the domestic market. ”

White goods industry is very important for Eskişehir

Stating that Eskişehir is one of the most important white goods industry production centers, President Küpeli said, “In the case of Eskişehir as one of the most important white goods industry production centers in our country, we have more than 70 companies producing in the white goods sector in Eskişehir and more than 13 thousand people are employed in these organizations. Every year millions of refrigerators, dishwashers, tumble dryers and ovens are produced in our city. In the first 2020 months of 3, 6 million 488 thousand refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers and ovens were manufactured in our country, while 1 million 680 thousand of them were sold in our country, while 4 million 909 thousand were exported ”.

It is beneficial to go to SCT cut to stimulate production

President Küpeli stated that there should be a SCT reduction in white goods products, “Because of the coronavirus (Covid-19), all sectors are going through a troubled period in this period, and in this context, our white goods industry is also temporary until the end of the year in order to protect the vitality of domestic production and increase domestic market sales. For a while, I think it would be beneficial for our government to cut the SCT tax on white goods. In this way, both the employment in the sector is protected and the economic losses due to coronavirus remain at minimum level since production and consumption will increase. ”
