After President Erdogan announced that it would be mandatory to wear a mask in public areas, a remarkable statement came from Istanbul and Ankara Metropolitan Municipalities. Both municipalities stated that those without masks cannot use public transportation. Municipalities also announced that citizens will be given free masks.

Erdogan announced that it will be mandatory to use masks in public areas starting from Saturday. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality on the subject SözcüMurat Ongun also made a statement.

Commenting on his social media account, Ongun said, “From tomorrow, passengers without a mask will not be admitted to busses, metro, metrobus and city lines ferries. There is no doubt that valuable Istanbulites will be sensitive on this sensitive issue. ”

Ongun said in a statement he made later:

* As a result of the decision we have taken as İBB, 100 thousand masks will be distributed to our citizens free of charge in our subway, metrobus and city lines ferries.

 

SIMILAR DECISION FROM ANKARA

Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş announced that those who do not have a mask will not be accepted to public transportation vehicles as of tomorrow.

Yavaş also stated that free masks will be distributed to those who do not have a mask.
