Russian Railways and Serbia signed an agreement with Montenegro (Bar) on the joint implementation of the Belgrade - Vrbnica - project to modernize the border railway line.

Oleg Belozerov, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Russian Railways and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlović, signed an agreement on the joint implementation of the modernization project. The signing ceremony took place on October 19, 2019, during the visit of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to Belgrade. The parties stressed their commitment to actively developing mutually beneficial cooperation in railway projects and expressed their intention to sign a new contract.

In addition, in the framework of the Intergovernmental Agreement on State Export Loan to the Government of the Republic of Serbia, an additional agreement was signed between RZD International LLC, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, which implements RZD Holding, on 17 January 2019. international foreign infrastructure and Serbian Railways Infrastructure JSC. This additional agreement is for the modernization and reconstruction of signaling, centralization and blocking systems, communications and telecommunications, with the establishment of the Unified Control Center for Train Traffic Management in the Republic of Serbia.

Russian Railways International LLC and Serbian Railways signed the contract number 940 on May 23, worth $ 2013 million.

The contract covers the construction and electrification of a 15 km long track on the Belgrade - Pančevo railway line, a total 112 km long reconstruction of the six sections of the pan-European corridor, the reconstruction and construction of the existing trail. Reconstruction of the 40.4 km section of the Belgrade - Bar railway line and delivery of Russian-made diesel trains, as well as a second track along the 77.6 km of the Stara Pazov - Novi Sad railway line.

The total 230 million contract was signed by RZD International LLC and the Serbian Rail Infrastructure JSC on 17 January 2019.

The document ensures the completion of the work and the delivery of materials as part of the second phase of the reconstruction, modernization and construction of a double rail railway with a capacity of 40.44 kph on Stara Pazov's 200 km force - Novi Sad section on the Belgrade - Budapest line . In particular, the construction of the electrical infrastructure, architecture, construction, electrical energy and related facilities will be built, the arrangement of waterways and the arrangement of strip land drainage will be carried out.

In accordance with the terms of the contract, RZD International LLC will also develop a project to rebuild and modernize the 210-kilometer region from Valjevo to the border with Montenegro, via Vrbnica, for further work.
