Celebrating the European Mobility Week (16-22 September) with many cities, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality organized a walking activity from Gündoğdu Square to Alsancak Station with the theme el Let's Walk Together ”. Alsancak Bornova Street (1469 Street) was closed to traffic for arm-by-arm walking with the participation of disabled individuals.
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality organized a big walking activity with the participation of İzmir people today (16 September) within the scope of “Mobility Week arasındaki between 22-21 September. The people of Izmir went arm-by-arm from Gündoğdu Square to Bornova Street and walked to the entrance of Alsancak Station with music played by the animator Free Hug who came to the event with his guitar. The walk was attended by the Deputy Secretary General of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Eser Atak, Tibor Sztaricskai of the European Union Delegation, Pedestrian Association and Bicycle Transportation Association (BİSUDER).

Tibor Sztaricskai from the Delegation of the European Union said, “The Mobility Week was an initiative supported by the European Union and transcending the borders of the union. We will continue to do so. ”
Pedaled for clean transport
21 In September, cycling groups also met in the Inciralti City Forest and rode up to the historic gas building. The event, which was held with the participation of bicycle groups and citizens, was attended by the Deputy Secretary General of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Eser Atak, Tibor Sztaricskai from the European Union Delegation, Bart van Bolhuis, Consul of the Netherlands in Istanbul and Marjolein van de Nadort from the Dutch Embassy.
Eser Atak evaluated the activities in the gas building and said: “16-22 is celebrated as the European Mobility Week in September. İzmir is one of the leading cities in this business. We do more events each year and there will be more next year. We do not see transportation as a problem of reaching on its own. Transportation is the answer to the question of what kind of city we want. We see it as a goal of making people happy.. Stating that bicycle is the best means of transportation, Bart van Bolhuis, Consul of the Netherlands in Istanbul said, onur It was an honor for me to ride a bike with you ”.
The event at the Havagazı building ended with the introduction of the Cycling Transportation Association and the documentary screening of Why We Cycle.
