Gebze Orhangazi İzmir Motorway construction works are completed and the sections between Balıkesir North Junction - Balıkesir West Junction and Akhisar Junction - Saruhanlı Junction are put into service on Sunday, March 17 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN.

Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Motorway with a total length of 384 km, 42 km of which is highway and 426 km of connection road; Balikesir North Junction with 2 × 3 traffic lanes - 29 km main body between Balıkesir West Junction, 3,5 km section between 32,5 km connection road and Akhisar Junction - Saruhanlı Junction with 2 × 3 traffic lanes 24,5 km section is opened for service, the trunk and 8 km connection road.

With the opening of the section between Balıkesir North Interchange - Balıkesir West Interchange, which is designed to provide an uninterrupted and comfortable transportation on the route between Istanbul and İzmir, to the existing Balıkesir-Edremit-Ayvalık State Highway with access control of the traffic coming from holiday and tourism in the summer months. It will be connected, the distance that takes approximately 30 minutes using the existing road will decrease to 15 minutes. In addition, the traffic in the city crossing of Balıkesir will significantly relax.

With the opening of the Akhisar-Saruhanlı part of the project, direct access to Akhisar from İzmir will be provided by connecting directly to the Saruhanlı-Kemalpaşa section opened on December 1, 2018. The Akhisar city pass, which takes about 15 minutes by bypassing 20 level crossings at the Akhisar city crossing, will decrease to 5 minutes, especially in the summer, the excessive traffic experienced in the current pass will decrease and the city traffic will also relax. While uninterrupted transportation is provided between Akhisar and İzmir, 1,5 hours travel time using the existing State road will decrease to an average of 50 minutes.
