Croatia Signs Cooperation Agreement with Spanish Railway Company ADIF

Croatian Railway Enterprise HZ Infrastruktura has announced that a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Croatian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the Spanish Railway Enterprise ADIF to cooperate in the development of a Mediterranean railway corridor, one of the EU's nine transport corridors. The Agreement was signed in Madrid with the participation of State Secretary Nikolina Brnjac, Croatian Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Maritime Affairs.

The two countries decided to cooperate in the planning of the railway sector, in the implementation of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), in the development of intermodal transportation and cargo terminals, as well as in planning, designing, building and maintaining railway energy, signaling and communication systems.

The Croatian Delegation also met with representatives of the Spanish Ministry of Transport and Construction to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the future expansion of the Mediterranean corridor.

In addition to Croatia's proposal to include the Ploce Port in the Mediterranean railway corridor, Croatia would like to include the Lika railway in the project to expand the Mediterranean Railway Corridor, thereby envisioning the connection of the Zadar, Sibenik and Split ports with the corridor.
