The 13,5 km line project prepared by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality for the Buca Metro construction tender was approved by the Ministry of Transportation General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments. Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu announced that the tender for the Buca Metro will be "the biggest tender in one item". The number of companies competing for the Narlidere Metro tender on January 9 increased to 42.

Just like Narlıdere Metro, the project of the 13,5 km-long Buca Metro, which will be built by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, was approved by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments. The project was submitted on April 13, 2017. Now it is time for the Ministry of Development to get the Buca Metro project into the 2018 investment program. Ministry approval is required for investments to be made with international credit.

Will work without driver

Since the Buca Metro line, which is designed as a deep tunnel, will be built using the TBM machine using the deep tunnel technique, the traffic, social life and infrastructure problems that will occur during the tunnel construction will be minimized. The line, which forms the 5th stage of the Izmir Light Rail System, will serve between Üçyol Station - Dokuz Eylül University Tınaztepe Campus - Çamlıkule. The line, which starts with Üçyol and consists of 11 stations, will include Zafertepe, Bozyaka, General Asım Gündüz, Şirinyer, Buca Municipality, Butchers, Hasanağa Garden, Dokuz Eylül University, Buca Koop and Çamlıkule stations. Buca line will be integrated at Üçyol Station with the 2nd stage line running between F.Altay-Bornova. The new line, which will be connected to Üçyol Station ticket hall floor for passengers, will operate independently of the existing lines. In this way, the latest systems of technology can be used in Buca Metro. Train sets on this line will serve without drivers.

Recently commissioned Karşıyaka Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has increased its rail system network to 165 kilometers serving in urban transportation by tram, continues its investments without slowing down. Extending the İZBAN line by 26 kilometers, the Metropolitan Municipality started to operate on the Selçuk axis. Konak Tram is planned to be put into service in the first months of 136.

42 company competes for Narlıdere Metro

On the other hand, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will go on international tender on January 7.2 for the construction of the 9-kilometer F. Altay-Narlıdere Metro line, which will be passed through a deep tunnel. Giant companies of the building industry will compete to undertake the construction of this large project. 42 companies, including many foreigners, showed their interest in the project by receiving a tender file.
