In the Şirintepe district of Eskişehir, the people of the region claiming that Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality did not serve them, made a press release and stated that they did not deserve the treatment.
Approximately 60 Şirintepeli, who came together to make their voices heard, emphasized that they were suffering especially because the tram was not delivered to the region. Speaking on behalf of the group, Mehmet Ömürlü said that it is very difficult to reach the center from Şirintepe and said, “Today, we ask the Metropolitan Municipality why the tram does not come to Şirintepe. In particular, we ask why he punished Şirintepe. Just like the tram did not come, the bill of the tram was paid to Şirintepe. We have paid since he first came. But when we wanted a tram to Şirintepe, we learned that there is no suitable place, that it will not be passed from here, and that new lines will go to Kumlubel, Esentepe and Muttalip. This situation made us very sad. We are in a neighborhood with a population of 65 thousand. The obvious question is, "Why have we been punished for years?" We want to learn this ”he said.
"We have 2019 elections ahead of us"
Ömürlü said that the election period is approaching and the people of the region will take a decision accordingly.
“We have 2019 elections ahead of us. When elections come, there are statements such as "We serve, our services are blocked". You are the one who has been in this business for 25 years. Who blocked these services? You will explain to us who did not bring the tram to Şirintepe and who thought of it. Those who talk about justice, those who walk for justice should tell us this. There is injustice in Şirintepe. There is no infrastructure, no tram, traffic is terrible, the roads are in excavation, there are no pavements, 50-60 vehicles are standing on a street. In construction, you get garage money per flat, but there is no garage for one car. The nation is building double-row car parks on the streets and sidewalks.
The people of the region started a petition for the tram line to reach Şirintepe after the statement.
