Yapı Merkezi awarded 1.9 billion dollar railway tender from Tanzania alone

Yapı Merkezi, which ranks 78th in the list of the biggest contractors in the world, received a giant tender from Tanzania. Having received the $ 1.2 billion high-speed train project business with its Portuguese partner in February, Yapı Merkezi alone won the second stage of the same project for $ 1.9 billion.

In the statement made by the Tanzanian State Railways company Reli Assets Holding Company (RAHCO), it was said that “After the evaluation of the proposals, Yapı Merkezi met the technical and financial requirements”.

15 firm bid was offered.

The second phase high-speed train project that Yapı Merkezi has earned with $ 1.9 billion will take place between Morogoro and Makutupora. The total length of the line will be 422 km. In this line, 17 million tons of cargo will be transported annually.

The company will complete the line within 36 months.

Yapı Merkezi won the first 300 km phase tender between Dar es Salaam and Morogoro in February with its Portuguese partner Mota-Engil Engenharia for $ 1.2 billion.
