Important move in Buca Metro: Izmir Metropolitan Municipality sent the project of the 13,5 km line to the Ministry of Transportation General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments, in order to obtain the necessary approval for the construction tender of the Buca Metro.
Recently commissioned Karşıyaka Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has increased the rail system network that serves in public transportation in the city with the tram to 139 kilometers, continues its investments without slowing down. The İZBAN Selçuk line, which is counting the days for the opening, was taken an important step for the Buca Metro, following the Konak Tram to be completed this year and the Narlıdere Metro, which came to the tender stage. The Metropolitan Municipality applied to the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications for the project approval of the 13,5 km long Buca Metro. Following the completion of the approval process of the Ministries of Transport and Development, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will bid for the construction of the project.
Will be the latest technology
The line, which forms the 5th stage of the İzmir Light Rail System, will serve between Üçyol Station - Dokuz Eylül University Tınaztepe Campus - Çamlıkule. The line, which starts with Üçyol and consists of 11 stations, will include Zafertepe, Bozyaka, General Asım Gündüz, Şirinyer, Buca Municipality, Butchers, Hasanağa Garden, Dokuz Eylül University, Buca Koop and Çamlıkule stations. Buca line will be integrated at Üçyol Station with the 2nd stage line running between F.Altay-Bornova. The new line, which will be connected to Üçyol Station ticket hall floor for passengers, will operate independently of the existing lines. In this way, the latest systems of technology can be used in Buca Metro. Train sets on this line are planned to serve without drivers.
