Rail System Is Growing, Izmir Is Developing

Railway System Grows, Izmir Develops: The rail systems in Izmir last 6 11,6 kilometers from the 130 kilometers and 1100 kilometers went up and grew in the rate. On the other hand, the system had positive effects on the environment, noise and air pollution and traffic.

İZBAN reached 110 kilometers with the opening of Torbalı line. The transportation network of İZBAN, which will reach 136 kilometers with the commissioning of Sağlık and Selçuk stations, will extend to 200 kilometers with Bergama. Thus, İzmir will be knitted with iron nets over 250 km from north to south and east to west. It will not be a surprise that the share of this large rail system network in urban public transportation rises to the first place.

The positive results of this growth in rail systems in the city have been observed in almost every aspect. İzmir people, who prefer to train instead of private vehicles, helped to relax the urban traffic considerably. In addition, the decrease in air pollution, the decrease in carbon rates in the city and the decrease in the noise intensity was made possible by the people of Izmir using the rail system. Rail systems have contributed to the economy of the city and the country in terms of environmentalist features and efficient use of scarce resources such as energy.
