4 million lira loss case from İZBAN to ESHOT

Case of loss of 4 million lira from İZBAN to ESHOT: İZBAN, who suffered losses due to free boarding during the electronic card crisis, filed a lawsuit at the Commercial Court against ESHOT, the operator of the system. İZBAN asked for compensation of 4 million lira of damage

In June last year, when the electronic card reading system crisis in Izmir public transportation was experienced, the public damage caused by free boarding buses, subways, ferries and İZBAN trains for 10 days was taken to the court. While there was a public loss of approximately 15 million lira due to the inability to charge the boarding passes, IZBAN, a partnership of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and TCDD, which received its share, sent a letter to ESHOT, the operator of the system, and asked for the compensation of the loss of 4 million lira. In accordance with the decision taken by the board of directors, it was underlined that if the damage caused by free boarding is not compensated, legal actions will be taken. When the correspondence between the two institutions failed in the intervening process, İZBAN found the remedy to go to the judiciary. İZBAN filed a lawsuit against the General Directorate of ESHOT at the Izmir 3rd Commercial Court of First Instance and demanded the collection of 4 million lira of damage through legal means.

KAOS IS LIVED
The General Directorate of ESHOT also filed a lawsuit against the former operator Kentkart, which he held responsible for the chaos, and the Kartek company, which received the tender for the operation service of the electronic fee collection system as of June 1. Now, eyes are turned to the courts where cases are heard. According to the results of the lawsuit, it was stated that the company losses would be covered. Kartek company won the electronic smart card tender held in İzmir in January 2015, and when Kentkart, which has been providing this service for 16 years, was disabled, the new period started in pain and chaos was experienced in June. On June 1, the validators did not read the electronic cards of the people of Izmir who wanted to get on the bus, subway, ferry and İZBAN or did not allow the pass because the balance was insufficient. In the chaos environment, a public loss of 1 million lira was incurred due to free boarding to public transportation vehicles between June 10-15.
