Underground wagon parking construction begins in Izmir: Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which is preparing to set up a two-storey underground parking lot with an investment of 93 million Turkish liras for metro wagons, is going into new traffic order in the region since Thursday.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which continues the production of new wagons to be used in the expanding subway network, starts the construction of the 2 storey underground car park that will be established for these wagons in Halkapınar. From the beginning of Atatürk Stadium in the region starting from Şehitler Street to Osman Ünlü Junction and Halkapınar metro warehouse area, and for the construction works of the plant which will cost around 93 million pounds, 25 will start the new traffic order in the region as of February.
Since the Underground Storage Facility to be built on Halkapınar Şehitler Street has a connection with the existing storage facility, the infrastructures on 2844 Street will be displaced. In order to carry out the displacement work safely, the part of the 2844 street between Şehitler Street and 2816 Street will be run one way towards 3 for a single lane and on the way to Şehitler Street starting from Thursday.
Using the 2844 street from Konak, Alsancak, İnşaatçılar Çarşısı and Otogar, the citizens going to Çınarlı and Mersinli areas will be able to reach the 2816 street via 2844 Street from Fatih Caddesi.
115 wagon to park
For the maintenance and storage of the İzmir Metro fleet, which is expanding day by day, the new facility that will be built in the area extending from the Şehitler Avenue to the Osman Ünlü Junction and Halkapınar metro warehouse area with the front of Atatürk Stadium will be built and will be equipped with the capacity of the 115 wagon. A total of 15 thousand square meters of space will be built in two-storey maintenance and storage facilities to ventilate the environment and to evacuate the smoke generated by any fire jet fan and axial fans will be installed in the ventilation system. In the section where elevated lines will be provided for periodical maintenance, compressed air system will be installed for vehicle and parts maintenance. There will also be an automatic train washing system that will allow the mobile washing of vehicles outside the facility. In accordance with the national fire regulations, there will be a water sprinkler system (fire extinguishing system) and a fire brigade filling system. 3 which provides the energy of the substation and trains at the underground vehicle storage facility. The rail system will also be created. In addition, fire detection-notification, camera and scada systems will be installed in the facility. The underground wagon parking lot, which will be provided by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality to the city, will cost 92 million 722 thousand TL.
85 new wagon future
On the one hand, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is working on the Evka 3 - Bornova Center, Buca and Fahrettin Altay-Narlıdere Employment School lines, and on the other hand, it continues to manufacture 85 new train sets with 17 wagons to be used in the existing metro network.
