Ercii're bearing capacity is increased to 100 percent: pre Turkey's most important ski centers from 2015-2016 ski season at Erciyes with newly built hotels, bed capacity will be increased to 800 from 600 thousand.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Erciyes AŞ Chairman of the Board of Directors Murat Cahid Cıngı said that Erciyes is on its way to becoming a worldwide ski resort.
Stating that they had serious problems in Erciyes due to the insufficient bed capacity and that they could not host those who wanted to come collectively from abroad, Cıngı stated that 2 hotel plots in the region were transferred to the private sector by the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality 21 years ago in order to overcome this problem.
Stating that 4 new hotels will begin to serve with the start of the ski season in Erciyes, Cıngı said, “Our bed capacity will increase from 800 to 600 with new hotels that will start serving this year. Our aim is to reach 5 thousand bed capacity in Erciyes in 6 years ”.
Pointing out that by this means, they can host large groups from abroad in Erciyes, Cıngı said:
“Despite our profit guarantee, tour operators were hesitant to choose Erciyes as our bed capacity was not sufficient. Foreign tourists want to stay together in groups without getting too far from the tourism center. Although we said we had a place to stay in the city center, we were not accepted. We now have the capacity to accommodate a plane full of tourists in Erciyes. "
Cıngı emphasized that they could not attend international fairs much in previous years due to the accommodation problem and that the increase in bed capacity strengthened their hands in the promotion of Erciyes.
- "Bed capacity will increase by 50 percent every year"
Stating that at least 4-5 hotels will be put into service in the region every year and the bed capacity will be increased by at least 50 percent, Cıngı said that Erciyes will become an international ski center with both bed capacity and social facilities in 5 years.
Noting that social areas will increase with accommodation spaces in Erciyes, Cıngı said, “Each hotel tries to implement different activities for its customers. As such, people can spend their time left over from skiing here without getting bored. This extends their stay in Erciyes. In this respect, we attach great importance to the increase in bed capacity in Erciyes ”.
Cıngı stated that they do not want huge hotels that may cause visual pollution in Erciyes, and that the hotels will be built and serve as boutique hotels made of stone and wood.
- "It directly concerns Kayseri and Cappadocia"
Emphasizing that they never thought of Erciyes alone, and that they dealt with the tourism potential of the city and the Cappadocia region, Cıngı used the following statements:
“Kayseri city center has almost 6 thousand years of civilization history. These lands are a tourism center in itself with castles, mosques, churches and museums belonging to the pre-Roman, Seljuk, Ottoman and republic periods. Likewise, Cappadocia is a separate tourism paradise. We are trying to create a destination in Erciyes that we call 'cultural skiing' that includes Kayseri and Cappadocia. In this respect, the increase in the bed capacity of Erciyes directly concerns Kayseri and Cappadocia. "
Cıngı added that thermal exploration continues in Erciyes and when they find hot water, they will need much larger accommodation investments.
