Security measures from France to train lines: France decided to increase security measures on trains due to the attack on the Amsterdam-Paris train in August.
Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve announced the new security measures to be taken in train lines at a press conference.
Minister Cazeneuve said that luggage controls will be intensified for better protection of passengers on intercity and suburban train lines. Within the scope of security measures, train officers will be able to perform top search and identity checks without a court order.
Cazeneuve also announced that it would be more careful in determining the passengers who boarded the train without buying tickets and the necessary fines would be cut.
Eyüp El Khazzani of Moroccan origin carried out an armed attack on the high-speed train from Amsterdam to Paris on 21 August, and 3 people were injured in the incident. A terrorist investigation was initiated into the incident, and Khazzani's lawyer claimed that his client got on the train to commit an armed robbery.
Every day 3 million people use the train lines in Paris, the capital of France, and an average of 14 million passengers per day across the country.
