Professor Dr. Bozdoğan: Services in the rail system route are lifted

Professor Dr. Bozdoğan: The rail system route services should be lifted. Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of Yalova University and Head of the Department of Transportation Engineering. Dr. Rafet Bozdoğan said, “We need to remove the services on the same route, just as we make subways and rail systems, so that private cars can enter the city. Because it causes traffic jams. ”

In the past, Bozdogan, who was also the Deputy Secretary General of Transportation in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, told AA correspondent that the services are a public transport module in urban transportation.

Referring to the importance of public transport systems Bozdogan, said:
“Our public transportation systems are insufficient in our cities, generally in metropolitan cities. Unfortunately, the systems supported by the public such as rail systems, city bus, public bus, minibus and minibus are insufficient. For this reason, when it is insufficient, industry, service sector, universities, private schools and official departments go to the service system in order to provide faster, faster and more comfortable transportation for their employees. This is an intermediate solution. The private sector has been put into operation. In many cities across Turkey, both in Istanbul, should Ankara, Izmir, Bursa has a very high amount of service tool. "
Defending that there should be 200-300 kilometers metro network and 7-8 thousand buses in order to be a good public transportation system in Istanbul, Bozdoğan said:
“Today there are about 150 kilometers of metro networks in Istanbul. There is also a metro network of 100 kilometers under construction. There are also 3 thousand city buses, 3 thousand private public buses and 6 thousand minibuses in the city. When all this is put on top of each other, it is not enough for the main carrier system of the city. When it was not enough, 60 thousand were served in Istanbul. Now, we are increasing service transportation to reduce individual car transportation, but we provide 60 thousand services to the system. They also cause traffic jams. If the metro and bus systems are well constructed, there will be no need for minibuses and services and will decrease. For this reason, this fiction was studied while determining the transportation concept of the city in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. It is said that in the future, although the metro of Istanbul is now 150 kilometers, in the next 3 years, another 100 km will come and it will be 250 kilometers. In 7-8 years, a 100-150 kilometer will arrive and will reach 400 kilometers. We need to remove the services on the same route, if we make subways, rail systems, so that private cars enter the city less. Because it causes traffic jams. ”
As rail systems become dominant in developed countries, Bozdoğan said that tire-to-wheeled public transport has shrunk. Bozdogan, said:
“The first shrinkage in tire wheeled transportation starts from services. Now it meets an important need, but 3-5 years later, service in Istanbul will become a nuisance. For this reason, our Prime Minister, based on this fact, mentioned in accordance with the standards of the developed country and mentioned this within the framework of the economic program. As a transportation, I support this. This should be it. In Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, this concept and this understanding prevail. A few years later, I believe that the services can be removed from the system significantly. Of course, first of all, a study will be carried out on personnel services. I believe that there will be a work on other services later. Something to be highly supported. Scientific facts also say this. Go to New York today, you won't see a service. There is no such thing as service. Very little. It's such a special case. Go to London is not there either. ”
In Turkey, this system requires the implementation of a process Valens pointed out that, "in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, Adana supposed to be ready for it as our great city. According to the population of each city, there should be a sufficient number of subways, rail systems and a sufficient number of municipal buses. ”
