RTA, the competent authority responsible for roads and transportation in Dubai, announced that it will be given gold by lot every day to those who use public transportation as of Saturday.
In total, 1 million dirhams (215 thousand euros) and 4 will be distributed to gold passengers. Bus, metro and tram users will also have the chance to watch the famous NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar together with a basketball game.
The number of people using public transportation in Dubai is very low. According to information provided by the Gulf News internet portal, 13 percent of the population uses these vehicles, while an average of 2,3 cars per family.
