Alstom's Position Against the French Government's Proposal

Alstom's position against the French government's proposal: Alstom rejected the French Government's proposal for General Electric's offer for Alstom's energy business.

As previously reported, both GE and Siemens are willing to buy the Alstom Energy business. GE has introduced a bid of 12,4 billion to buy Alstom's energy business. Mr. Arnaud Montebourg, the French economics minister, wrote a letter to GE, rejecting its proposals and proposing to form an eb equal partnership ye instead of purchasing. The French government is worried about Alstom's withdrawal from the market, the business container and, more importantly, the French sovereignty in Nuclear Activities. With this new offer, the French government has advised GE to hand over the rail system to Alstom instead of a simple purchase. This proposal is also supported by Francois Hollande, President of France.

However, in a call for a conference with Alstom's CEO Patrik Kron, Alstom rejected this proposal because GE's rail system was US-oriented. Rather, he pointed out that GE was more interested in signaling activities and was also open to the proposal of Siemens.

Siemens is still working on making an official offer to the company. In this offer, he intends to provide his own high-speed rail technology in line with Alstom's energy business and aims to offer a proposal in this direction. On the other hand, Siemens will maintain its regional and regional railway vehicles and signaling department.
